My Work
My debut book
This Poem Might Save You (Me)
This Poem Might save you (me) is a collection of Spanglish poems that takes you on a journey through the eyes of a Chicana through the streets of Los Angeles, to the little town of Dolores, Chihuahua. Poems birthed from jammed freeways and crowded bars, classrooms, car rides, and travels with your best friends, from heartaches, and endings and beginnings, through hikes at her local park where the crows caw and the coyotes run by with the downtown LA skyline as a backdrop.
Through Jesenia’s poetry she invites you to chuckle, laugh, roll your eyes, or even cry a little. Come on! Just buy the book already, you know you want to. Get inspired, get angry, and get reading.
Somos Xicanas Anthology is available for purchase
I have an essay I wrote about my abuelita Josefina and a poem in the anthology, along with the work of many other talented Xicana writers.
